Capitol letters fra leksjonen Common mistakes

Remember that English uses a capital letter for these types of words:

days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc.
months: January, February, March etc. (NB! Mars is a planet in English, not a month!)
nationality words and languages: English, Norwegian, German, Chinese
religions: Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Hindu
political parties: Labour, the Conservatives, the Republican Party

On the whole you will not be misunderstood if you use a small letter in these cases, although this sentence might raise some eyebrows: svenskeli.jpg

"The football club Viking have signed a swede as their coach for the coming season."

Why? Because "swede" means kålrabi. A person from Sweden is a Swede.

Using capital letters correctly in these words shows that you know and understand the difference between English and Norwegian.

Not using them shows that you don't know or you don't care. Bad news for your grade in either case, I'm afraid!
